Four Rivers Co-op's Response to COVID-19
March 20, 2020

Updated February 11, 2022

In our efforts to ensure the health and safety of our teams is maintained, we have began rolling out a voluntary rapid testing program to our team members, which will be used in instances where a team member may feel as though they had been exposed or at risk of exposure. Team members who feel ill, or those who receive a positive rapid test result, will be sent home to isolate, or asked to stay home, in accordance with the recent updates to isolation periods based on vaccination status.

We ask that customers who feel ill will follow the same guidance and stay home until they feel better. Seek assistance from a friend or family member from outside of your household if you are in need of food or supplies; or make use of our home delivery options as described below in previous updates.

Updated December 3, 2021

Masks continue to remain mandatory within all Four Rivers Co-operative locations, in alignment with the updates to the Public Health Orders, and we will continue to provide single-use masks to any customer who does not have one. Other protective measures will continue to be maintained, such as frequent cleaning and sanitization efforts, and plexiglass barricades at checkout counters. We ask that customers avoid gathering within our locations to chat or catch up, and make reasonable efforts to select products and make their purchases in a timely manner.

We would also like to remind customers that verbal abuse or other aggressive behaviour directed towards any Co-op team member, other customers, or anyone else within our locations will not be tolerated, and any person acting in this way will be removed from the store. While we understand the frustrations and exhaustion people are facing in these times, those emotions do not give anyone the right to abuse anyone else.

Updated August 25, 2021

Per BC Public Health Orders effective Wednesday, August 25th, 2021, masks will be mandatory inside all Four Rivers Co-operative locations, and will continue to be mandatory until further notice. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Updated July 2, 2021

Per BC Public Health Orders effective Thursday, July 1st, 2021, masks are recommended to be worn while inside businesses or facilities, including all Four Rivers Co-operative locations, pending changes to the public health orders. We will continue to encourage our team members, customers, and other visitors to wear masks at any time they are within our locations.

Updated November 20, 2020

As the number of cases in BC continues to rise, Dr. Bonnie Henry issued a number of new orders effective November 19, 2020. To ensure we comply with these new orders, please note that anyone entering any of our facilities will be required to wear a mask, including team members, customers, and other visitors. We will provide a single-use mask to any customer needing one. This mask is required to be worn for the duration of your time in our facilities.

The health and safety of Four Rivers Co-operative team members and customers is very important to us. We are taking steps at all of our locations to help our communities stay safe and healthy.

Our stores are cleaned and sanitized regularly throughout the day as a part of normal business, but all of our locations are increasing the frequency of cleaning, especially around high-touch areas. We encourage our customers and members to keep informed on preventive measures by regularly checking the websites of our provincial health authority, Health Canada, and the World Health Organization.

Grocery Updates:

After many discussions about how we can best support the members of our community who are most at risk, we have decided that, effective immediately, we are offering FREE grocery delivery to seniors, those who are ill, or those who have an immune disorder, to ensure they can access groceries without exposing themselves to potential health threats. We understand that there are concerns around financial security, and as such, when picking grocery orders, our team members will select items with the lowest cost unless otherwise directed.

Our Food Store will accept orders Monday to Friday, 8:00am — 12:00pm by phone, email, or fax as follows, with order delivery being the following day:

Email: groceryorders@fourrivers.crs
Telephone: (250) 567-4406
Fax: (250) 567-4355

Recently added is the ability to place orders through our website, as well as the option to select the food category or store department to your grocery order.

We have posted signs for customers to indicate where to return shopping carts after they have finished their shop, as well as to indicate which carts have been cleaned and sanitized, and are ready for use. We have also suspended our 5¢ fee on plastic shopping bags, until further notice.

Gas Bar/Convenience Store Updates:

In addition to usual measures to ensure our Convenience Stores are clean and sanitary, we are asking that customers do NOT bring in travel mugs for refills at this time. Paper cups are available to prevent possible contamination from cups to our refill stations. Our refill stations are cleaned on a regular basis, and we are working to reduce the risk of exposure.

Our Vanderhoof Gas Bar has resumed regular hours of operation from 5:30am  9:00pm daily. Our Westgate Gas Bar in Prince George continues to operate with regular hours from 6:00am  10:00pm daily.

Following recommendations made by Northern Health, we are expanding the services we offer at our Convenience Stores in Vanderhoof and Prince George until further notice. Effective immediately, our staff will provide the service of dispensing beverages or providing foods from our fresh food programs (availability varies by store), to reduce potential spreading of viruses and limiting interactions with these high-contact surfaces and products, to ensure the health and safety of our team members and customers.

We are limiting the number of customers to a maximum of 6 at our Vanderhoof Gas Bar and 10 at our Prince George Gas Bar on Westgate Avenue, and at the recommendation of Northern Health, we have increased and adjusted the traffic pattern inside our Convenience Store in Vanderhoof to ensure social distancing is maintained. Additional directional signage and floor decals have been installed to provide guidance to our customers when entering and leaving our store.

Petroleum Updates:

Our Petroleum Offices have returned to normal operating hours. Please contact your local office to arrange for delivery.

The hours of operation at our Houston Petroleum Office on Saturdays, effective April 18, 2020, will be 10:00am  2:00pm.

The shower facilities at our Hart Cardlock in Prince George have now been re-opened for our customer use. We have set protocols in place to ensure they are properly cleaned and maintained to protect the health and well-being of our customers and staff.

Home Centre Updates:

Our Home Centre hours have returned to normal, and we thank you for your co-operation during the reduced hours.

Our lumber yard attendants will load your vehicles for you, and we ask that you help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 by remaining in your vehicle while in our lumber yard.

We have installed directional signage at the entrance to our Home Centre to assist our customers in maintaining social distancing as they navigate our store.

Online orders and curbside pick up are now available at our Home Centre location.  Orders can be placed through our handy online order form by visiting our website. You will be contacted by a team member within 24 hours to confirm your order and arrange a pick up time. No need to leave your vehicle at the time of pick up, simply phone the store at (250) 567-4464 when you arrive, and a team member will bring your order to you.

Quesnel Cardlock/Agro Centre Updates:

As we do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19, we have decided to temporarily close the shower washroom at our Quesnel location. However, we will continue to keep our smaller washroom open for customer use. Our shower facilities have now been re-opened for our customer's use. We have set protocols in place to ensure they are properly cleaned and maintained to protect the health and well-being of our customers and staff.

We are making adaptations to our processes to be able to continue to provide the services and products that you need while minimizing the risk of exposure to our team members and customers, and we thank you for your patience during this time. We encourage you to check this article periodically for updates to the information. As things are very fluid and information is changing quickly, we will work to keep updated information available to our customers and members.
